【摘要】:ItispossiblethattheuserofFRprotectiveclothingwillexperiencerepeatedexposurestohotairaspartoftheworkenvironment.Whiletheseindividualexposuresarelikelynottoposeacatastrophicthreat,thecumulativeeffectoftheseexposuresarelikelytoreducethelevelofretainedsewnseamstrengthperformancetoavaluethatismeasurablylowerthanthesewnseamstrengthperformancerequirementestablishedforanewitem.Theassemblyoftextilestructuresrequiresthattheseamengineeringusedtomanufacturetheproductanticipatehowtoretainthemaximumsewnseamstrengthduringtheanticipatedlifecycleoftheproduct.InitialsewnseamstrengthperformancerequirementsofFRtextileproductsmeasuressewnseamstrengthofanew(neverexposedtoheatenvironment)product.Retainedsewnseamstrength(RSS50)canbeusedtomeasureseamfailureofFRprotectiveclothingafterrepeatedshortdurationexposurestohighheat.RSS50canalsobeusedtomeasureseamfailureofFRprotectiveclothingwhenexposedtoopenflameafterrepeatedshortdurationexposurestohighheat.Thesedataaboutretainedsewnseamstrengthareusefultoestablishcriteriatodeterminewhentorepair,retire,orreplaceFRprotectiveclothing.1.1Thisspecificationcoverstheretainedsewnseamstrengthofflameresistantfabricsubassembliesafterrepeatedshortdurationexposurestohotairorrepeatedshort-durationexposurestohotairandsubsequentshort-termexposurestoopen-flameimpingement.1.1.1Thisspecificationisusedtodetermineminimumretainedsewnseamstrengthaftertheseexposures.1.2Thisstandardisnotintendedtoserveasadetailedmanufacturingorpurchasingspecification,butcanbereferencedinpurchasecontractstoensurethatminimumperformancerequirementsaremet.1.3ControlledlaboratorytestsusedtodeterminecompliancewiththeperformancerequirementsofthisstandardshallnotbedeemedasestablishingperformancelevelsforallsituationstowhichwearersofFRprotectiveclothingarepotentiallyexposed.1.4Mandatoryrequirementsareindicatedbyuseofshall;recommendationsandadvisinginformationisindicatedbyshould.1.5Thisstandardisusedtomeasureanddescribetheresponseofmaterials,products,orassembliestoheatandflameundercontrolledconditions,butdoesnotbyitselfincorporateallfactorsrequiredforfirehazardorfireriskassessmentofthematerials,products,orassembliesunderactualfireconditions.1.6Firetestingisinherentlyhazardous.Adequatesafeguardsforpersonnelandpropertyshallbeemployedinconductingthesetests.1.7Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpractices,anddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
